First aired March 19, 2007, episode #19 of Andrew Sandoval’s “Come To The Sunshine” features more than two hours of Manchester’s finest, Herman’s Hermits (Peter, Barry, Lek, Keith & Karl). Our host spins the cream of the crop of the Hermits’ recorded legacy: an album spotlight on their 1967 masterwork BLAZE (in MONO no less); a peek at their unissued covers album from ’68 (anyone for the Hermits’ rockin’ spin on “Rock And Roll Woman” – we kid you not); plus loads or rare and unusually wonderful tracks.
From Series 2 in February 2007, host Andrew Sandoval plunders his extensive collection for an all soundtrack music edition of “Come To The Sunshine” or “Come To The Soundtracks,” which ever the listener would prefer. First broadcast January 15th, 2007 episode #12 of “Come To The Sunshine” features two very full hours of ’60s rarities, radio sessions, covers and aural ephemera from the one and only HOLLIES. Highlights include a January 1967 trip to the recording studio explaining how the band made their records; all the Clarke/Hicks/Nash written tracks from the Everly Brothers “Two Yanks In England” album in mono (it has only been on CD previously in stereo); tracks from Hollies protege’s such as the Societe and the Mirage; Covers from Keith, Episode Six, Dana Gillespie and the Piccadilly Line; even the rarest of the rare – a Hollies rip off track by the Klan called “Fifi The Fly” (stolen lock stock and barrel from the Hollies’ “Fifi The Flea”). In an episode first aired on October 16, 2006, episode 6 of “Come To The Sunshine” lifts the lid on host Andrew Sandoval’s personal collection of Nuggets type singles from the ’60s.
