Episode #40: A&M Day

Episode #40: A&M Day

Originally aired March 31, 2008 – “Come To The Sunshine” episode #40 explores the world of A&M records in the 1960’s. Founded by Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss, A&M was a stomping ground for a coterie of creative producers, arrangers, songwriters and performers.

A&M nurtured so many fine talents that it would be impossible to capture them all in one show. This edition of “Come To The Sunshine” was culled from a survey of more than 300 of A&M’s single releases to present you with a banner show of 50 fine specimens. Each and every single was painstakingly transferred from the original MONO vinyl pressings in order of actual release to illustrate the full impact and arc of the
La Brea sound.

Come with us on a journey from single #770 to #1118 featuring singles by:

Episode #35: Dave Clark 5

In an episode first aired on February 4, 2008 “Come To The Sunshine” #35 spotlights the Dave Clark Five, as host Andrew Sandoval presents more than two hours of their finest recordings direct from original vinyl pressings. Hear the stomping Tottenham sound of Lenny, Mike, Rick, Dennis and Dave via their self-penned and produced eleven or so albums – None of which are available on CD – but some of which have recently appeared in part on iTunes.

The DC5 are one of the hardest rocking bands on record from the original British invasion and this program highlights seldom heard nuggets from their catalog: album only tracks, rare singles and items never issued in the US, their brief forays into psychedelia – the best of the best and then some. You will get a true picture of what this band was all about.

Episode #28: Gary Lewis Telethon

Episode #28: Gary Lewis Telethon

In an episode first aired on Labor Day September 3rd, 2007, “Come To The Sunshine” #28 was host Andrew Sandoval’s first ever Gary Lewis Telethon!

The show features more than two hours of nothing but the best of Gary’s criminally underrated recordings (such as selections from his great later period albums like “I’m On The Right Road Now,” “Listen” and others). The show’s goal was for Gary to get his critical due and never ROCK alone!

Nevertheless, this irreverent program is not affiliated with the former Jerry Lewis Telethon. Information can be found for that at http://www.mdausa.org/telethon/.
